Endimione and Selene (1854) by Victor Florence Pollet depicts the moon goddess Selene appearing before the sleeping mortal shepherd Endimione. According to Greek myth, Selene’s love for him led to his eternal sleep, preserving his youth forever. Painted in delicate watercolour, the work is held in the Victoria and Albert Museum, London.
