Troldskab (Sorcery), painted in 1892 by Theodor Kittelsen, is a darkly atmospheric work that captures the remnants of myth and legend. Within a shadowed cave lie ornate treasure chests, a dragon’s skeletal remains, and scattered symbols of mortality, while light and foliage stream in from the outside world. The contrast between the eerie interior and the glowing entrance evokes both mystery and the lingering presence of forgotten magic in the natural landscape.
