Dead Leaves, 1902. An oil painting by French artist Alexandre-Jacques Chantron (1842–1918).
A haunting scene depicting numerous nude female figures lying motionless across the fallen leaves of an autumn woodland. Their pale bodies contrast with the dark forest floor, while a vivid sunset illuminates the distant hills. The painting evokes themes of death, mortality and the fleeting nature of beauty, drawing a parallel between the lifeless figures and the fallen leaves surrounding them.
