Mautonstrada S. Carlo, "Eruption of a Volcano above a Village" (19th century), depicts a violent volcanic explosion towering over a fragile settlement below. Rivers of lava pour down the mountain, illuminating the night sky in fiery reds and golds as smoke and ash choke the air. Small human figures at the base emphasize the scale of destruction, turning the scene into a dramatic meditation on nature’s overwhelming power and humanity’s vulnerability beneath it.
