James Ward (1769-1859). Large early 19th century portrait of a wounded white stallion, oil on canvas by James Ward. Excellent quality and condition scene from Ward's series of Napoleonic Wars era horse and cavalry studies. Leading example of the artists work, typically unsigned but authenticated and attributed with additional provenance. Presented in its original antique gilt frame.
