René Magritte's The Poison (1939) presents a surreal juxtaposition of night and day within a single scene. Silhouetted buildings and a star-filled sky evoke nighttime, yet a bright, glowing horizon and stark, leafless trees suggest daylight. The crescent moon and warmly lit windows add to the dreamlike contradiction, challenging our perception of time and reality in true Magritte fashion.
