"The Lone Wolf" by Alfred von Wierusz-Kowalski (1849–1915) is a hauntingly atmospheric oil painting that captures a solitary wolf standing on a snowy hill under a twilight sky. The animal gazes toward a distant village, bathed in cold moonlight, conveying a sense of isolation and quiet tension. The stark contrast between the warmth of the village lights and the icy wilderness enhances the feeling of the wolf's estrangement. This evocative scene reflects themes of solitude, survival, and the raw beauty of nature.
