"Fired On" is a painting created by American artist Frederic Remington. It is considered one of his most iconic works and is representative of his depictions of the American West. The painting depicts a mounted cowboy, who has just been shot and is in the process of falling from his horse. The horse is rearing up in reaction to the sudden event, while the cowboy's body is contorted in mid-air as he tries to regain his balance. Remington's masterful use of gesture and movement captures the drama and energy of the moment, making the painting appear almost lifelike.
