This is "Elijah in the Wilderness" by Frederic Leighton, created around 1878. The painting depicts the biblical prophet Elijah, as he lies exhausted in the wilderness, being ministered to by an angel who brings him food and water. Elijah is shown with his muscular build, wearing a loincloth, and is lying down with a pained expression on his face, signifying his fatigue and despair. The angel is portrayed with a serene and compassionate expression, dressed in flowing robes with detailed, colourful wings, symbolizing her divine nature. The background features a barren landscape that reinforces the theme of desolation and Elijah's isolation.
