"Transgression of the Commandment" by Henri-Camille Danger from 1892, depicts a somber scene with a central figure resembling Jesus Christ, surrounded by lifeless bodies in various states of undress, scattered across a barren landscape. In the background, a darkened sky looms over a distant fire, while crosses stand on a hilltop to the right, suggesting the location is Calvary. The mood is one of sorrow and tragedy, accentuated by the stark, dramatic lighting.
